The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Yendi has taken a bold step to uphold discipline within its ranks by suspending 184 members for violating the party’s constitution.
This decisive action, announced by Constituency Chairman Nashiru Abdul Karim, comes in the wake of mounting complaints and an intensive investigation into misconduct during the recent elections.
In a statement released on Wednesday, December 26, 2024, Chairman Karim explained that the suspensions were based on provisions outlined in Article 3 Clauses (9)(1), (7)(1), and (8)(1) of the NPP’s 2017 amended constitution.
The decision followed several petitions alleging violations linked to the presidential and parliamentary elections, which were reviewed by the Constituency Executive Committee and the party’s Disciplinary Committee.
The resolution was reached during an expanded meeting of the Constituency Executive Committee on December 23, 2024.
The gathering, which included members of the Council of Elders, the Council of Patrons, and the Disciplinary Committee, unanimously agreed on the suspensions, underscoring the need to safeguard the party’s constitutional integrity.
Chairman Karim emphasized that the move reflects the NPP’s unwavering commitment to discipline and accountability within its ranks.
“I am writing to officially inform the National and Regional leadership of the party, as well as the general public, that the following individuals have forfeited their membership or have been summarily suspended effective December 26, 2024,” he declared.
