Renowned Ghanaian counsellor, Mrs. Charlotte Oduro appeared on Peace FM to refute the notion that women can do what a man can do, and even excel at them.
She highlighted the biological differences between men and women, suggesting that men are inherently designed to take on the role of leaders within the family structure.
She questioned the origins of the quote, saying, “Who brought that quote that what men can do, women can do it better? We can’t do anything. The man is the head of the family.
“He should take care of me. I am not in competition with him.” Mrs Oduro went on to explain that while women can work and earn money, it should never be done out of pride or in competition with men.
“A man will always be a man. That has been the structure. We came to meet it. So what is the competition for? Women should allow men to pamper them and stop pushing for gender equality,” she argued.
She emphasized that she doesn’t believe women need to be equal with men, adding, “I don’t need to be equal with a man. What are we looking for? I can never be equal to a man.”
Dr. Oduro’s comments have sparked a conversation around traditional gender roles and the ongoing debate about equality between men and women.
