Radio personality and CEO of Nineteen57, Kofi Okyere Darko, aka KOD, has revealed that his company will be teaming up with Charterhouse to dress the winners of the Unsung Winners category at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs).
This announcement was made during the TGMA Industry Mixer event at the Palm Convention Centre in Accra on July 13, 2024. KOD shared with the press the inspiration behind this collaboration.
The ex-Radio Gold presenter informed journalists that this concept came to him. Here’s his statement.
“This guy I saw perform on the big night and I tell you when I saw him I said he should be wearing Nineteen57, which got me thinking.
“From next year, the eventual winner in the Unsung category gets to be clothed by Nineteen57 in the year under review, right from the year they win.
“I believe in giving people opportunities and that is what Telecel Ghana Music Awards has been doing for the industry for the past 25 years,” he said.
The Nineteen57 collection features kaftans, T-shirts, shirts, caps, and more. The TGMA Unsung seeks to highlight emerging artists with promising talent in the music industry.
Kwesi Amewuga was adjudged the winner in the 2024 TGMA Unsung category.
The up-and-coming rapper claimed the title on Sunday, May 26, 2024, beating out fellow nominees Kasar, Lali X Lola, Keeny Ice, Seven Kizs, and Alaptawan.
