In exciting entertainment news, Will Smith has been confirmed to perform at the 2024 BET Awards. The actor’s attendance and performance at the upcoming awards show were confirmed on social media.
This marks Smith’s first appearance at the BET Awards since 2005. According to Variety, Smith will be performing an unreleased original track, though details about the performance remain scarce. The 2024 BET Awards will take place on Sunday, June 30.
Musically, Will Smith is best known for hits like “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It,” “Men In Black,” and “Wild Wild West.” He hasn’t released an album since 2005, with his most recent solo release being 2017’s “Get Lit” and his latest work being the 2020 Joyner Lucas collaboration “Will (Remix).” Smith recently joined J Balvin onstage at Coachella in April, performing “Men In Black.”
Earlier this month, singer-songwriter Teddy Swims told NME about recording a song with his “hero” Will Smith. “I don’t know what’s going to happen with it and can’t confirm anything, but just being with him and learning knowledge and wisdom from someone who’s been through it all was crazy,” he said. “He’s the sweetest guy ever,” added the Atlanta-born soul-pop singer-songwriter.
In a two-star review of Bad Boys: Ride Or Die for NME, James Mottram wrote: “Martin Lawrence and Will Smith are on the beat once more with Bad Boys: Ride or Die – a noisy, unfunny fourth installment that’s only made endurable by some raucous action scenes.”
