Reportedly, Will Smith is humiliated and offended by what Chris Rock said about him and his family on his Netflix special, “Chris Rock: Selective Outrage.“
A source told ET, “Will is embarrassed and hurt by what Chris said about him and his family in his Netflix special. He didn’t watch it, but he had people tell him what Chris said… It’s everywhere when you look online and on social media, so Will and Jada have seen comments about it.”
Will Smith apologized to Chris Rock via social media the day after the Oscars incident for slapping him during Sunday night’s Oscars telecast.
Again, he apologized to the Academy, the show’s producers, the audience, the “King Richard” cast and crew, and the Williams family.
Will explained that he reacted emotionally because a joke about his wife’s illness was “too much for me to bear”.
Chris Rock has repeatedly addressed the incident since it occurred.
During a set in Phoenix in August 2022, he joked that returning to host the 2023 Academy Awards would be like retuning to a crime scene, referencing the O.J. Simpson murder trial to explain his reasoning.
Chris Rock stated in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that he would not host the upcoming 95th Academy Awards if The Rock were chosen instead.
“He said everything he wanted to say,” the source told ET. “It was funny, self-deprecating, and thought-provoking. Now, “Chris is ready to move on.”
