Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has sparked a heated debate on social media after stating that “kindness go turn you to mumu” (kindness will turn you into a fool).
In a tweet that has since gone viral, the artist, known for his hit songs like Orente and Before You Go, shared his belief that success in life sometimes requires a “sprinkle of wickedness” to thrive.
“Took me a while, but I can confirm now that in this life, you need a sprinkle of wickedness to thrive. Kindness go turn you to mumu,” Adekunle Gold wrote, seemingly reflecting on the struggles and lessons he’s learned in his personal and professional life.
The tweet, which quickly gained traction, caught the attention of many of his followers, some of whom agreed with his view, while others strongly disagreed.

One fan replied directly to Adekunle Gold’s statement, expressing a starkly contrasting opinion on the matter.
“This is a hot fat lie,” the fan responded. “Kind people are kind and never regret their kindness. If you are wicked, you are wicked.
“If you are kind, you can never wish and do not need to be wicked. Kind people never nurse that idea, only wicked people can be two-faced.”
The exchange between Adekunle Gold and his fan has opened up a larger conversation about the balance between kindness and self-preservation in a world often described as competitive and unforgiving.
