The Krontihene of Akyem Asoum, Nana Boadi Amponim Obo-dade III has expressed a heartfelt prayer that Ghana never experiences another president like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Speaking with conviction in an interview on GHOne, Nana Boadi described the former president’s tenure as a period of missed potential, lamenting what he saw as an underwhelming legacy.
“He had so much at his disposal—resources, revenue, opportunities—but failed to transform the country as he could have. This is not the kind of leadership Ghana deserves,” the chief declared.
Adding to his critique, the Krontihene shared that many traditional leaders, including himself, were relieved to see Akufo-Addo’s presidency end.

“A lot of the chiefs are happy his reign is over. Some of us had seen the signs, but people didn’t want to believe it. Now, it’s clearer than ever,” he stated.
Reflecting on the strained relationship between the presidency and traditional authorities, Nana Boadi recounted a pointed remark from a fellow chief.
“A friend of mine once asked, ‘Will he come and demand that we wake up and greet him again?’”
The comment, laced with frustration, underscored the perceived disconnect between the president and the custodians of Ghana’s traditions.
For Nana Boadi, the prayer for better leadership isn’t merely a critique—it’s a call for hope. “We pray we don’t get another Akufo-Addo to be president of Ghana,” he said solemnly.
