The Member of Parliament for Afigya Kwabre North, Collins Adomako-Mensah, has called on political appointees from the recently ended Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration to return official assets and align themselves with efforts to rebuild the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Speaking with a tone of urgency, Adomako-Mensah addressed the issue of lingering possession of government property, including vehicles, by outgoing appointees.
“You were an appointee of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Your appointing authority has left power graciously,” he stated, emphasizing the necessity for appointees to act responsibly and hand over all assets in compliance with established protocols.
The MP elaborated on the directive issued by the former president before his exit. “Before He left, He instructed that all assets in your possession, including official cars, should be handed over before January 3, 2025,” he explained, highlighting that such assets were meant strictly for official duties and were no longer appropriate for use by individuals not holding office.
Adomako-Mensah expressed dismay over reports of appointees holding onto government resources, which he believes fosters unnecessary drama and detracts from the party’s goals. “Why keep the car?
“Why keep the assets and allow some overzealous party faithfuls to chase you? Why?” he questioned. He further pointed out that if the former president himself had vacated the Jubilee House in a dignified manner, appointees should follow suit without hesitation.
The MP’s remarks also reflected a broader concern for the party’s future.
“We have a party to rebuild and recapture. We don’t need any unnecessary drama. Tune your mind and let’s get to work. We shall surely be back,” he declared, rallying members to focus on restructuring the NPP in preparation for future electoral victories.
