Brother Sammy has firmly stated that divorce should be considered a viable option and often the initial step when a relationship is failing or compromised.
The gospel singer says although he recognizes that the principles of his faith, as outlined in the Bible, do not endorse divorce, he argued that it may be justified in cases of abusive remarriage or when one feels it is acceptable to leave the relationship.
“If your life is under attack in your marriage, run,” adding marriage is not eternal. “We came into this life with nothing and shall leave with nothing. Marriage is one of the things we’ll leave behind,” he said.
Furthermore, Brother Sammy, who endearingly refers to himself as The Nation’s Worshiper, emphasized to couples that God does not intervene in marriages.
As a result, it is their individual responsibility to exit a marriage that fails to meet their expectations.
Brother Sammy stated: “How do you know God put two people together in the first place?”“God does not roam to find a woman for a man to marry. Rather, you search for a woman, take her to your parents, and with their blessings conduct the engagement ceremony.
“From there, you take it to the pastor for the wedding ceremony. God is not involved in this. He has not arranged any marriage for anyone. You found your partner at the club, party, funeral, etc., and married them,” the singer said in a recent interview with Nana Romeo on Accra FM.
