Grace Omaboe, popularly known as Maame Dokono, has disclosed the reasons behind the former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, taking back her car and other possessions following their fallout.
During her career, Maame Dokono developed a strong bond with Nana Konadu, who was instrumental in the establishment of the 31 December Movement that led to the creation of the well-known ‘By The Fireside’ program, which Maame Dokono hosted.
However, their relationship deteriorated when Maame Dokono shifted her support to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In response, Nana Konadu expressed her displeasure by reclaiming all the items she had previously gifted to Dokono, including those used for the production of ‘By The Fireside.’
Maame Dokono shared these insights in a recent interview with GTV.
“The NPP was doing something at Cape Coast, and at that time, a few of the artistes were behind Nana Addo. I was also there, and I was the one who put up a performance before Nana Addo came on stage.
“The party members liked my zeal on stage, and they said I was a hotcake, so they wanted me to join their party. They asked if I’d like to join the NPP and I hurriedly said yes.
“I didn’t know it was going to create a problem between me and the former first lady. It messed up my relationship with her brutally, and she took everything from me.
“She was at that time sponsoring ‘By the fireside’. She gave me a van, camera equipment, and so on, but she took everything back, and that was the end of ‘By the Fireside’,” she stated.
The disclosure comes days after media personality Nana Romeo, a regular pundit on UTV’s United Showbiz urged Maame Dokono to address the claims that her car was seized by former first lady Nana Konadu Agymenag Rawlings.
Maame Dokono is preparing to launch a new book detailing her life, career, and motherhood.
However, it seems she is avoiding certain important aspects of her life that her followers deserve to understand.
Nana Romeo pointed out that Maame Dokono’s explanation that her car was seized by her former friend turned enemy without providing any reasons, leading to Nana’s actions, is problematic.
He emphasized that to avoid further disputes and rumours, Maame Dokono should clarify the circumstances that led to her car being seized and the reasons behind her decision to switch from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
