Lilwin visited the studios of Accra FM and shared with host Nana Romeo an interesting story from his filmmaking career involving legendary Highlife act Daddy Lumba.
He said about eight years ago, he wrote a movie and brought together mainstream Ghanaian musicians and seasoned Ghanaian actors.
Daddy Lumba was part of the project, and Lilwin was thrilled to have someone of Lumba’s calibre on board. The actor mentioned that despite investing a huge amount of money and gathering numerous popular musicians and seasoned actors for the film, it never saw the light of day.
He said this was because Daddy Lumba, who played a leading role in the movie expressed dissatisfaction with his appearance in the movie when he reviewed the final version.
Lilwn said Lumba insisted that since his handsome features were inconspicuous in the movie, it could potentially alienate his female fans, Lumba advised against releasing the movie.
As a result, Lilwin said he had no option but to heed his request and shelve the movie.
“I featured Daddy Lumba, Ampong, Amakye Dede and other stars in a movie. The movie was not released because Daddy Lumba said that we should shoot it again. He said he was not looking good in the movie so it cannot be released.
“I would have sold huge copies because Daddy Lumba is a great icon in the music settings.
“However, I had to respect him and not go contrary to what he wanted. You will be shocked that he even supported me with cash while we were shooting the movie.
After the shoot, I sent him a preview and he loved it but after some days, he called to tell me that I know the women love him and that he is not looking so good in the movie so we should do the work again,” he told Nana Romeo during the interview.
