As the music industry continues to evolve, more artists are rethinking traditional record label contracts.
One such artist, Ghanaian musician Krymi, is making waves with his approach to the business side of his career.
In a recent interview with Onua FM, Krymi shared his thoughts on signing with a record label and explained why he prefers to enter into sub-contracts rather than fully committing to one.

“You can have a contract… entering into a record label will help some people. But I would rather do a sub-contract with a record label to have label services or certain things that I think the label will be able to do better for me,” Krymi explained.
His preference for sub-contracting rather than signing fully into a record label highlights a growing trend among artists who want to retain creative control and ownership over their music. “That’s what you see all the big artists like Wizkid do.
They all have sub-contracts with the likes of Empire and Sony. But signing fully into a record label, I don’t think I will be interested in that,” Krymi added.
