Renowned Ghanaian actor and broadcaster Mikki Osei-Berko has expressed dissatisfaction with the state of governance in Ghana.
In a recent discussion, Mikki revealed his growing frustration with the country’s political landscape, hinting at a possible return to politics.
“I think there are so many things that our parliamentarians have not considered. I feel that governance in this country has not been so creative; they only take taxes and borrow money,” he lamented.
For Mikki, the problem isn’t just about the financial strategies employed by the government but also the lack of innovation in governance. “I feel that there are opportunities that can bring the country money and sustain the citizenry through creativity and business-oriented governance,” he added.
These concerns are not new to the actor, who previously served as an Assembly Member. Reflecting on his political journey, Mikki described his foray into governance as a divine calling.
“I went as an independent candidate on the direction of God. I didn’t even think about it with anybody. I took the decision on the inspiration of God. I contested; everybody thought that I couldn’t win, but I won.”
Although his tenure was cut short due to academic pursuits, Mikki’s experience as an Assembly Member remains significant.
“Even before the term ended, I had the opportunity to go outside to school. I went to the New York Film Academy to study film production, so before the term ended, I had to go.
“I thought that it was better to educate myself and come back a better person than just remain in politics,” he explained.
