Ghanaian musician and social commentator, Kwame A Plus, voiced his support for John Dramani Mahama’s proposed 24-hour working policy, highlighting frustrations with current government operations.
In a recent statement, A Plus expressed his concerns about the inefficiencies caused by the closure of government agencies on weekends.
“I don’t know why I can’t do anything on Sundays or Saturdays. Every government agency is closed, so you have to wait,” A Plus lamented. He pointed out the inconvenience this causes, particularly for those in urgent need of services such as passport applications.
The backlog in services due to the weekend closures is a significant issue, according to A Plus. “There are people who are looking for passports and because we don’t work on Saturdays and Sundays, there’s a huge backlog,” he explained.
By backing Mahama’s 24-hour policy, A Plus advocates for a shift towards more accessible and efficient government services, suggesting that extending operational hours could alleviate some of the challenges faced by citizens.
John Dramani Mahama’s 24-hour policy proposal advocates for extending the operating hours of government agencies and services to 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The goal is to improve accessibility and efficiency, reducing wait times and backlogs for essential services such as passport applications, licensing, and other government-related tasks.
