What were Blacko and King Paluta doing on the list? – Stonebwoy queries Grammy article again

Stonebwoy remains resolute in his criticism of a high-profile article published on a Grammy website, which highlights the pioneers of hiplife and the development of Ghanaian sounds that have influenced various genres across Africa.

During a recent podcast hosted by MC Portfolio in Kumasi, shortly after attending an all-black party at Ridge Condos, he revisited the topic.

Despite facing backlash from various quarters, including some of his devoted fans who questioned his critique of the article due to his absence from it, Stonebwoy reiterated his confusion regarding the report’s wording.

He stated that as one of Ghana’s most significant artists, he should have been included in the article, regardless of its focus on hiplife.

He emphasized that he draws inspiration from hiplife and noted that many of the artists mentioned in the article do not match his level of achievement.

He also raised concerns about the inclusion of Black Sherif and King Paluta, questioning their presence on a list that is meant to honour legends, given that they are relatively new to the industry.

Stonebwoy challenged the writer’s perspective, questioning the relevance of their analytical approach to Hiplife. He acknowledged during the interaction with MC Portfolio that Hiplife serves as their foundation and gives due credit to Highlife, asserting that all contemporary music owes a debt to the Highlife genre.

While he draws inspiration from Hiplife, he believes the article attempts to encapsulate the essence of Ghanaian music under the guise of Hiplife, which he finds unacceptable.

In conclusion, he emphasized his extensive knowledge of the industry, stating that he prefers to listen and learn.

Stonebwoy recognizes the writer’s efforts but feels the article fails to fully represent the current state of Ghanaian music and cannot simply categorize it under hip life.

He also questioned the inclusion of certain artists in the article, arguing that their styles are more contemporary, while his own style does not align with the current trends enough to warrant mention alongside this year’s top artists.
