In the interview, Lojay challenged the notion that coming from wealth provides an advantage in the competitive world of music. He pointed out that many Nigerians engage in “rich-shaming,” implying that talent and genuine artistry are what ultimately resonates with audiences.
“In this business, it’s your talent that truly counts,” he asserted, highlighting his confidence in his craft as the cornerstone of his career.
Lojay also reflected on his upbringing, emphasizing that although his family is affluent, they haven’t played a role in his achievements as an artist.
Proudly, he noted that his rise in the industry has been entirely self-made, asserting that he has never relied on ‘payola’—the practice of bribing for airplay—to elevate his music.
