The overwhelming defeat of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections has sparked a wave of reactions from across the country, with rapper Criss Waddle adding his voice to the conversation.
Taking to social media, the musician and entrepreneur addressed President Nana Akufo-Addo and his administration with a biting remark:
“People begged you to fix the country, you told them to ‘fix themselves.’ Herh, u be champion, we will never forget you da until we die short man Devil.”
The statement was an apparent reference to the President’s previous comments, where he suggested that citizens needed to take responsibility for their own lives rather than blaming the government for every shortcoming.
The rapper’s words come at a time when the public is still reeling from the NPP’s electoral defeat, which has been attributed to a variety of factors, including rising economic challenges, inflation, and unemployment.
For many voters, the NPP’s inability to address these pressing issues led to widespread disillusionment.
Criss Waddle’s comments seem to echo the collective disappointment many Ghanaians feel about unfulfilled promises.
