Music duo Keche has expressed their gratitude to the award-winning music producer Kaywa for guiding them through their journey in the music industry.

Keche Joshua and Keche Andrew shared their experience on Neat FM, reminiscing about the strict discipline Kaywa instilled in them, which they initially misunderstood as mistreatment.

They revealed that the challenging routine they followed, including walking long distances to reach Kaywa’s studio and spending entire days there, was crucial in shaping them into resilient artists.

Their six-year apprenticeship as studio assistants played a significant role in honing their musical talents, contributing to their continued success in the industry.

“At that time, when we were under him, we used to think he was mistreating us, but now we’ve realized that he was actually grooming us. He was trying to instill the spirit of discipline in us.

“I can’t count the number of times we walked from Community One to Community Eleven to his studio. We would be there the whole day and sometimes not get home until 2 am.

“We were there as studio boys for six years. Nowadays, there’s no longer the concept of a studio boy, as people have access to the internet and laptops to create music, but we had to go through that process. If Keche is still here, it’s not just about talent, but also about hard work. We went through the process,” they said.

They showed appreciation for the discipline and strong work ethic that Kaywa instilled in them, recognizing that his strict methods were designed to enhance their strengths and address their weaknesses.

“He is strict, but it’s all for the best. That’s why we are still relevant today. We have been through it.

“We would go through that experience again because we can see the value in it,” they added.
