US-based Ghanaian pastor and philanthropist, Kofi Adonteng Boateng, has opened up about his deep connection to the controversial yet beloved reggae-dancehall artist, Shatta Wale, whose real name is Charles Nii Armah Mensah.

In an interview with Fiifi Praat on Kingdom FM, Pastor Kofi spoke candidly about the complexities of Shatta Wale’s personality, offering insight into the pain behind the artist’s often volatile public behaviour.

“I pray for Shatta Wale,” Pastor Kofi shared, highlighting how he feels a spiritual and emotional connection to the artist through his powerful and often raw lyrics. For many fans, Shatta Wale’s music serves as an anthem of resilience and defiance, but for Pastor Kofi, it also reveals the deep scars of a man who has had to battle life’s challenges on his own.

The pastor, known for his humanitarian work and compassionate outreach, expressed a desire to see Wale heal from the inner turmoil that seems to fuel his actions.

In the interview, Pastor Kofi took the time to delve deeper into Shatta Wale’s complex personality, tracing some of the artist’s erratic and intense behaviour back to his childhood experiences.

“I have listened to several interviews where Wale speaks about the abandonment he faced from both his mother and father,” he explained. This abandonment, Pastor Kofi believes, left the artist with emotional wounds that still affect him today.

Growing up without parental affection, Shatta Wale was forced to confront the world alone. As Pastor Kofi pointed out, the lack of guidance and emotional support likely shaped Wale’s hardened exterior and his tendency to lash out at others.

“I do not condone his tendency to hurl insults at others without cause,” Pastor Kofi acknowledged, recognizing the hurtful impact of Shatta Wale’s words on those around him. However, he was quick to offer an explanation, not as an excuse but as a way of encouraging understanding.

“This behavior stems from deep-seated pain,” he said, emphasizing that Wale’s struggles should be met with empathy rather than condemnation.

While Shatta Wale’s public persona often garners attention for its controversy, Pastor Kofi’s reflections invite people to look beyond the surface.

The pastor called for a more compassionate approach when discussing the artist’s actions, suggesting that a deeper understanding of his background could lead to more meaningful support. Rather than focusing solely on the controversy, he wishes for people to recognize the vulnerability behind the bravado.

“I wish him healing and strength,” Pastor Kofi said, expressing a heartfelt desire to see Shatta Wale overcome the pain of his past.

He believes that the artist’s journey toward healing is crucial not only for Wale’s own well-being but for those who look up to him as a cultural icon.

Pastor Kofi’s words come at a time when mental health and emotional trauma are becoming more widely discussed, especially among public figures who face immense pressure.

For Pastor Kofi, Shatta Wale’s story is one of survival. Despite the odds, Wale has achieved success in the music industry, but Pastor Kofi hopes that he will also find inner peace. “We need to pray for him, to lift him up in times of difficulty,” the pastor urged, reminding listeners that even the strongest public figures often carry heavy burdens.
