We Lost 2024 Elections Because We Were Wicked to Ghanaians – Adwao Safo

Former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo has made a bold admission about the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), acknowledging the government’s shortcomings while rallying support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s candidacy in the upcoming elections.

Speaking on Asempa FM, she admitted that the NPP’s governance had been harsh on the people, leading to voter apathy and internal dissatisfaction.

“We know that as a government we were wicked to the Ghanaian people. MPs were targeted when they spoke about the government, but we all know that they were telling the truth,” she said.

Despite these challenges, she firmly believes Bawumia deserves another shot, citing past leaders who faced multiple defeats before the eventual victory.

“Nana Akufo-Addo won the election on the third attempt. People even said that he had been cursed and could not become president, but he became president. So why have we presented a ticket, and you’ll come and say we should not present him again?” she questioned.

She also criticized the lack of a ministerial reshuffle during the government’s tenure, describing it as a major flaw that contributed to their struggles.

“Even Prof Mills didn’t win on his first try. There was no reshuffle during the eight years. Government even sacked some persons and that also affected our base. The last-minute sacking by the president was very useless and that brought about the apathy,” she stated.
