The manager of Chef Smith, Benny Benjamine has addressed the recent speculation regarding his Guinness World Record (GWR) confirmation as the new longest-cooking marathon title holder.

Amidst the growing buzz on social media and various entertainment news outlets, the manager disclosed receiving an email from GWR officials.

During an interview with Accra-based Hitz FM on July 3, 2024, the manager mentioned that he was unaware of the conflicting reports from GWR and presented an official email from the organization affirming Chef Smith’s world record achievement.

“I’m not privy to that. From what we know, it’s the same Guinness World Record that sent us email and all that,” he claimed.

Asked if it was proven that the claims by Chef Smith were indeed false, Benny replied, “Let’s get there, and then we cross.”

Meanwhile, amidst the uproar caused by this claim, TV3 Ghana, a subsidiary of Media General, reached out to GWR to verify Chef Smith’s statement.

In a message sent directly to TV3 through X, GWR confirmed that the current record holder for the longest individual cooking session is still Alan Fisher from Ireland.

GWR clarified that Chef Smith does not possess the title of the longest cooking marathon and has not been granted any official certificate., a declaration that has caused a commotion on entertainment news platforms.

‘We can confirm this is not true. Chef Smith does not hold the GWR title and that is not our certificate,” GWR said in its response to TV3.

“The longest cooking marathon (individual) is 119 hr 57 min 16 sec and was achieved by Alan Fisher (Ireland) in Matsue, Shimane, Japan from 28 September to 3 October 2023,” GWR said.
