Stonebwoy has expressed his commitment to breaking down the barriers faced by people living with disabilities in Ghana through his foundation, THE LIVINGSTONE FOUNDATION.
He believes that individuals with disabilities contribute greatly to communities as artists, athletes, entrepreneurs, and leaders.
Their determination serves as a motivation for us to strive harder to create a society that is inclusive and fair for everyone.
Stonebwoy emphasized the importance of recognizing the strength and resilience of people with disabilities and called for a renewed dedication to building a more inclusive Ghana.
On World Disability Day, he took the opportunity to celebrate individuals living with disabilities and urged the country to establish an environment that is conducive for all.
The Disability Act, Act 715, was passed by the Parliament of Ghana in 2006 after years of advocacy and lobbying by the disability community.
This significant legislation, in line with article 29, clause 8 of the 1992 Constitution, outlines the rights of individuals with disabilities in Ghana.
It establishes a foundation for their active participation in Ghanaian society, not as a matter of charity but as a fundamental right.
Since the inauguration of the National Council on Persons with Disabilities on June 23, 2009, this date has been designated as Ghana’s National Day of Persons with Disabilities. It serves as an opportunity to reflect on the accomplishments of the disability movement in realizing their rights as outlined in the Act.

“Today, on National Disability Day, we at THE LIVINGSTONE FOUNDATION are proud and determined to continue supporting and empowering people with disabilities.
“This day calls for action to create a society where everyone has equal opportunities to succeed. While Ghana has made progress in promoting disability rights, challenges such as inaccessible infrastructure and limited access to quality education and healthcare still exist. We are dedicated to breaking down these barriers and fostering an environment of inclusion, respect, and support.
“Our mission is inspired by the remarkable stories of resilience and courage we witness daily. People with disabilities are defined by their abilities, dreams, and contributions, not their limitations.
2They enrich our communities as artists, athletes, entrepreneurs, and leaders. Their determination motivates us to work even harder toward a more inclusive and equitable society for all. Let’s honor the strength and resilience of people with disabilities and recommit ourselves to creating a more inclusive Ghana. 💪🏿❤️
