Ghanaian singer and vocalist, Yvonne Ohene Djan has shed light on one of her classic songs that she collaborated on with Daddy Lumba.
Known professionally as SHE, she revisited the song’s introduction during an interview with Abieku Santana on Okay FM.
It became evident that Ghanaians had been misinterpreting the lyrics of the song, as SHE showcased the essence of the song in acapella form during the interview.
She explained that the words in the song were not in any specific language, but rather a creation to complement the song’s rhythm.
SHE mentioned that Daddy Lumba appreciated her contribution, even though she mentioned she had more to add. Despite this, Lumba decided to finalize the song with the input she had already provided.
During a previous interview, the female singer, Yvonne Ohene Djan, revealed that she adopted a fake stage name in order to conceal her music career from her father.
In a conversation with AJ Sarpong, she explained that her father did not support her aspirations as a musician.
Growing up in a strict household, she had to navigate her way through obstacles to pursue her dream, which included keeping her true identity hidden from her father for six years.
She mentioned that the name ‘SHE’ was bestowed upon her by the late Faisal Awani of Popchain when she joined the music group.
“My father did not know anything about it. My father was like nob way you are going to the studio to sing. I told my brother and my mother that this is what I want to do and they were like Daddy would not agree but first hide yourself. Don’t tell anyone you are ‘SHE.’
“SHE was given to me by the late Faisal Awani when I joined Popchain at that time. I did not have any name I said Lateefah and he said I want you to shorten the name from Shilla to SHE and that’s where it started,” she said on 3FM Drive on Thursday.
The female singer noted that she managed to hid her music career from her father for six years until she finally spilled the beans to him.
