Verydarkman, a social media critic known for his relentless and provocative content, has now found himself in real-life trouble following an incident involving a Nigerian police uniform.
His unfiltered approach, often laced with controversy, took an unexpected turn when he posted a video wearing official police attire, a move that did not sit well with Nigerian authorities.
Earlier reports from entertainment news platforms indicated that Verydarkman publicly apologized after being summoned by the Nigerian Police Force regarding the video, which quickly went viral.
In his statement, he expressed regret over the incident, acknowledging the backlash his actions stirred. However, the apology was not enough to prevent formal action.
According to Kokopee, a close friend and associate, Verydarkman was formally detained as police launched an investigation into the matter.
Kokopee disclosed that the critic would face charges related to the unauthorized use of a police uniform, with a court appearance set for the next day. He went on to criticize the Nigerian judiciary, voicing dissatisfaction with the handling of the case and suggesting that the legal system often lacks efficiency.
The Nigerian law is stringent when it comes to impersonating law enforcement. Unauthorized use of police uniforms or insignia is seen as a direct violation of public safety regulations, potentially misleading the public and eroding trust in police authority.
Violations carry serious penalties, ranging from fines to imprisonment, depending on the intent and perceived harm.
In a public plea, Kokopee called on Verydarkman’s supporters and “well-meaning Nigerians” to rally behind the critic, framing the arrest as an example of excessive punitive measures.
