Ghanaian media personality Bridget Otoo has expressed sharp criticism of the Electoral Commission (EC) following its decision to reschedule the special voting exercise for the Eastern and Western regions to December 5, 2024.
Her reaction, which she shared passionately on social media, has added fuel to ongoing concerns about the integrity of Ghana’s electoral process.
“Special voting for Eastern and Western rescheduled to December 5, wow! Jesus! Please use all your anger to vote against this government! We need to clean the EC!” Bridget wrote, urging Ghanaians to hold both the government and the EC accountable at the ballot box.

The rescheduling, announced by the EC as a logistical adjustment, has been met with scepticism by sections of the public, who see it as indicative of deeper issues within the electoral system.
Special voting, a process that allows security personnel, media professionals, and election officials to vote ahead of the general election, plays a vital role in ensuring smooth election-day operations.
However, the decision to shift dates has left many questioning the EC’s preparedness and transparency.
Bridget Otoo didn’t hold back in her broader critique of the current administration, accusing it of weakening state institutions and allowing corruption to flourish.
“This government has undermined, reduced state institutions, and institutionalized corruption to the extent that shameless people are on this platform defending a corrupt and scandal-laden minister,” she remarked, tying the rescheduling to a larger pattern of alleged mismanagement.
