Nigerian actor and filmmaker Ugezu J. Ugezu has voiced his frustration with a recurring pattern in the country’s political landscape, questioning why politicians often become vocal critics of the system only after leaving office.
In a social media post that has sparked widespread debate, Ugezu pointedly asked, “WHY IS IT THAT NIGERIAN POLITICIANS WILL ONLY START TALKING SENSE ONCE THEY LEAVE OFFICE?”
He went further, using a metaphor that resonated deeply with many Nigerians: “Is it that we have demons in all the government offices that blind them once they get sworn in?”
Ugezu’s remarks reflect a common frustration among citizens who feel betrayed by leaders who campaign on lofty promises but often fail to deliver meaningful results.
The actor also addressed the broader state of governance in Nigeria, lamenting the lack of genuine leadership and accountability.
“Nigeria is in a mess, and only sincerity in administration can salvage things,” he stated.
His words struck a nerve with Nigerians who have grown weary of recycled narratives and ineffective leadership, particularly from politicians who only seem to find their voice and moral compass after their tenure ends.
