US-based Ghanaian political commentator Twene Jonas has aimed shots at popular rapper Sarkodie, accusing him of selective silence and hypocrisy regarding the nation’s economic struggles.
Known for his outspoken commentary, Jonas recently released a video where he lambasted Sarkodie for what he perceives as the rapper’s failure to address the hardships currently facing Ghanaians.
“Back when the NDC was in power, Sarkodie was loud,” Jonas claimed in his video. “He was constantly criticizing the government, stirring people up and convincing them that a change was necessary.”
According to Jonas, Sarkodie’s public criticism played a role in swaying voters toward the New Patriotic Party (NPP), led by President Akufo-Addo. “Now the NPP is in power, and things are getting worse, but Sarkodie has lost his voice,” Jonas continued, noting what he called a “magical” silence.

For Jonas, Sarkodie’s actions seem especially ironic given his past support for Akufo-Addo. The rapper, who openly endorsed the NPP and released a song praising President Akufo-Addo after his first term, is now facing criticism for not speaking out as public frustration mounts.
“Sarkodie even released a song to praise Akufo-Addo and urged Ghanaians to keep him in office,” Jonas pointed out. “But now, when things are tough and people are really struggling, he’s gone quiet.”
This isn’t the first time Sarkodie has faced scrutiny over his political affiliations. During previous election cycles, he was vocal about his views, addressing government performance and urging citizens to hold their leaders accountable.
