The trial for Duane “Keefe D” Davis, the man accused in connection with the murder of iconic rapper Tupac Shakur, has been postponed until November.

Following a hearing on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, the new trial date was set for November 4 this year.

Davis’ newly appointed attorney, Carl “E.G.” Arnold, successfully petitioned for the trial’s postponement, citing the need for additional time to prepare a thorough defence for his client.

Arnold also expressed optimism about Davis’ prospects for securing bail, stating his belief that Davis could potentially be released soon upon posting the required amount, which stands at $750,000. Davis would need to provide 10% or $75,000 for eligibility for house arrest.

During the hearing, Davis addressed District Judge Carli Kierny at the Regional Justice Center in Las Vegas, expressing concerns about his family’s safety amidst what he described as a media “circus” during court visits.

Arnold asserted his confidence in Davis’ innocence, highlighting the prosecution’s purported lack of evidence, particularly regarding the presence of a gun, a vehicle, and Davis’ whereabouts at the time of the incident.

Davis was arrested on Sept. 29, 2023, at his residence in Henderson, Nevada, nearly 27 years after Shakur’s death on September 13, 1996. He faces charges of first-degree murder related to his alleged involvement in the rapper’s killing.

According to the prosecution, Davis purportedly confessed his role in Shakur’s murder in his book, “Compton Street Legend,” where he detailed passing the murder weapon to the shooter.

Shakur, revered as one of the most influential rappers in history, achieved global acclaim with over 75 million records sold worldwide. His multi-platinum albums, including “Me Against the World,” “All Eyez On Me,” and “The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory,” solidified his legacy as a hip-hop icon.
