Nollywood veteran Patience Ozokwo, affectionately known as Mama G, has expressed her heartfelt joy after being awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Theatre and Media Arts.
The award, conferred by Achievers Networks Academy, UK, recognizes her decades-long contribution to the Nigerian film industry and her role in promoting African culture globally.
“Today was like a movie,” she shared in a celebratory Instagram post, accompanied by videos from the event. “Honorary Doctorate Degree. Thank you, Unilag. Thank you.”
The award ceremony, held at the Aderinokun Lecture Theatre, University of Lagos, Akoka, on Saturday, also honoured two iconic figures in Yoruba cinema—Adebayo Salami and Jide Kosoko. The trio was celebrated for their pivotal roles in shaping Nollywood into the powerhouse it is today.
