On-air personality Nana Yaa Brefo has fiercely criticized the followers of Prophet Salifu Amoako after a violent altercation involving journalists.
The clash occurred outside a courtroom where the Prophet had been summoned following his son’s involvement in a tragic accident that claimed the lives of two young girls in East Legon.
The accident, which shocked the nation, placed Prophet Salifu Amoako and his family under intense public scrutiny. His son, whose actions allegedly caused the fatal crash, led to the Prophet’s arrest, prompting legal proceedings that culminated in a heated scene outside the courthouse.
As members of the media attempted to document the event, several of Amoako’s followers reportedly lashed out, trying to prevent journalists from filming their leader.
The situation quickly escalated into physical confrontations, leaving some reporters injured. Despite the assaults, no arrests have been made concerning the attacks on the journalists.
During her radio show, Nana Yaa Brefo did not hold back in her condemnation of the behaviour of Amoako’s supporters.
Outraged by the violence and intimidation, she slammed the church members for tarnishing the image of Christianity through their actions.
“What kind of example are they setting?” she questioned. “This is not how people who claim to serve God should behave.”
Brefo further expressed her frustration with the lack of consequences for those who attacked the journalists, emphasizing that such actions not only disrespect the press but also damage the reputation of religious communities.
“This gives a bad name to both God and Christianity,” she said, her voice filled with anger.
“We can’t keep allowing people to hide behind religion and act this way.”
