Actor Kwadwo Nkansah, better known as Lilwin, is one of Ghana’s most beloved comedians and actors, but his journey to success was not without its struggles.

From his early days in the entertainment industry, he faced doubts and criticism from those who believed he would not make it.

However, Lilwin’s story is one of resilience, faith, and the unwavering belief that perseverance pays off.

In an interview with Amansan Krakye on Property FM, Lilwin shared the challenges he faced when he first entered the film industry.

“When I started acting in the movies, they said I wasn’t good enough and that I should not be counted among comedians who are funny,” he recalled.

His journey was far from easy, and the criticism seemed never-ending. But as time went on, Lilwin proved his critics wrong and solidified his place among the top actors and comedians in Ghana. He attributed his rise to success to the grace of God.

“By the time they realized, God had lifted me to be counted among the best in the movie industry, and it’s all by the Grace of God,” Lilwin remarked with gratitude.

His faith and perseverance kept him going, even when the road seemed uncertain. Lilwin also recalled how he faced mockery when he decided to play an old man in his movies.

“When I started acting as an old man in the movies, people thwarted my efforts and made a mockery of me, saying that what I’m doing is senseless,” he shared.

Despite the harsh criticism, he remained determined to continue playing the role, believing in its potential.

Today, Lilwin is known for his portrayal of old characters, and his performances have earned widespread acclaim.

“But now people really enjoy it when I play the role of an old character in movies,” he said with pride.

His ability to bring these characters to life has earned him the respect of his peers and fans alike. Lilwin’s success didn’t stop there.

He also introduced dancing into his movies, another aspect of his acting career that was initially met with scepticism.

“When I introduced dancing in movies, people questioned it,” he explained.

“But now, people appreciate it, and it has become one of the many reasons why my movies are loved by many.”

For Lilwin, the key to his success has been his ability to turn criticism into motivation.

He emphasized, “So everything that people want to use to discourage me from doing it, God uses that to bless me.”
