During a recent interview with Berla Mundi on the Day Show, Kuame Eugene opened up about his experience working with Keche on a project in 2020.
Despite the song becoming one of the biggest hits of the last three years, Eugene revealed that he is still bitter about the way he was treated by the music duo.
He explained that Keche had come to him at 2:00 am for his input on the song, but once it became successful, they sidelined him in terms of the monetary aspect. Despite this, Eugene has decided to let go of everything because he respects Keche as his senior in the industry.
However, he did mention that Keche has been downplaying the significance of his input on the song during interviews, even though he wrote the catchy hook and chorus that turned the song into a big hit.
When the issue first popped up, Keche Joshua replied to allegations Kuami Eugene made in an interview with Delay that he wrote most of the lyrics to Keche’s smash hit “No Dulling.”
According to Kuami Eugene, Keche lied about his involvement in the creation of the viral hit “No Dulling.”
“I did the whole chorus and hook. If anybody claims credit for it, it’s a big lie because I wrote that. They are claiming credit for it because they feel they do not have talent or are inferior. I had written the hook and everything before they contacted me,” Kuami Eugene said.
Kuami Eugene had also claimed that the only phrase they added was “Otan bebrebe yi enti wo da aa wo da?”
Keche Joshua, on the other hand, seemed taken aback by Kuami Eugene’s remarks and expressed his concern and uncertainty to his co-musician.
He responded with a viral video post on Twitter in which he can be seen addressing the allegation while laughing uncontrollably.
“They said the only thing we did in the song was ‘Otan brebere yi nti wo da wo da’. Hmm…So Andrew. ‘No Dulling.” The only thing we did was ‘Otan bebere vi nti wo da wo da.” He said, laughing hysterically, before adding, “… I don’t understand it; I don’t get it.”
