The Family Can Sue GFA and Nsoatreman FC for Wrongful Death – Lawyer Enoch Afoakwah

The tragic incident at Nsoatreman FC’s home ground, which led to the death of a Kotoko fan, has sparked discussions about legal accountability.

Private legal practitioner Enoch Afoakwah believes the bereaved family has grounds to take legal action against both the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Nsoatreman FC.

Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show, Afoakwah stated, “The family of the deceased can also file a civil suit against the GFA and Nsoatreman FC for some sort of compensation as far as the incident is concerned.

This is a wrongful death, and it was occasioned as a result of the organization of a special event by the GFA and Nsoatreman FC.”

He emphasized that event organizers must ensure the safety of spectators at football matches. In his view, the security arrangements in place failed to protect lives and property, making the organizers potentially liable.

“Based on their standard of arrangement to protect life and property at the stadium, they failed to do same.

And once this incident has occurred, the family can also pick up a civil suit against them,” he explained.
