The controversy surrounding the E-Gates procurement process has deepened as Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza, Member of Parliament for Adaklu and Minority Chief Whip, revealed new details about alleged irregularities in the scheme.
Agbodza did not mince words when addressing the media, insisting that his claims are substantiated by official documentation.
“This proposal was reviewed and watered down by the Ministry of Finance (MOF) after technical officers started punching holes into the whole scheme,” he asserted during an interaction with journalists.
According to him, the original cost proposed by Margins Group, the company contracted for the project, was deemed questionable. Following scrutiny, the company reportedly revised its cost from an undisclosed amount to $147 million.

“Margins Group, sensing trouble over the deal, revised their cost to $147 million. Refer to the memo from MOF on this,” he added, pointing to a lack of transparency in the process. Agbodza called for thorough investigations into what he described as a “questionable deal.”
This latest development stems from growing public interest and suspicion about the E-Gates project, a technological initiative meant to streamline immigration processes at Ghana’s airports.
Critics have raised alarms about the project’s cost, its procurement process, and whether it delivers value for money.
Agbodza’s comments have amplified these concerns, placing the Ministry of Finance and Margins Group in the spotlight.
“So, my dear journalist, understand that I as a lawmaker will not just grant interviews to spew things that aren’t factual. The facts are what I have shared.
The documents clearly bear out my assertions. If I am lying, then officers in MOF are also the biggest scammers,” he remarked candidly. His fiery statement underscores the gravity of his claims and his readiness to defend them.
