That’s How Black People Are-Keche Slams Ghanaians Happy Over Afua Asantewaa’s GWR Failure

Keche has criticized Ghanaians who are celebrating Afua Asantewaa’s failure to achieve a Guinness World Record following her recent disqualification in the singathon attempt (longest singing marathon).

The music duo expressed their disappointment in the tendency of many black people to find joy in the misfortunes of others, a development that has sparked a new conversation as far as entertainment in Ghana is concerned.

During an interview with Amansan Krakye on Property FM, based in Cape Coast, Keche stated that it appears that most Ghanaians derive pleasure from witnessing someone’s downfall.

They questioned why some people would be excited about the disqualification of someone who is not even a musician, despite the support they had given her. Keche also observed that it seems that as black people or Ghanaians, we are more thrilled by the failures of others rather than focusing on our progress in life.

They said:

What Afua Asantewaa did was to sing only Ghanaian songs including songs of some up and coming musicians so she promoted Ghana.

She’s not even a musician because I’ve known her way back for organizing award shows but she decided to embark on this Guinness World Record Sing-a-thon.

If someone who’s not even a musician has been able to do this and we’ve supported her but unfortunately she’s been disqualified why should it excite some people.

It seems that as black people or Ghanaians the downfall of someone excites us the most rather than seeing progress in our individual lives”.
