Davido has connected with the iconic Angelique Kidjo through a video call, expressing his gratitude for her humility and willingness to collaborate with emerging African artists, regardless of her esteemed position in the music industry.
The Nigerian artist and music executive commended Kidjo for her consistent responsiveness whenever he reached out to discuss potential collaborations.
He emphasized the importance of celebrating her partnerships with Stonebwoy and other artists across the continent.
Additionally, he shared that he visited Benin with his parents during his childhood and fondly recalled growing up listening to the music of the ‘Wombo Lombo’ sensation.
“They don’t know that since when I was little I have been going to Cotonou, Benin with my dad and mum,” Davido said.
“Yeah I’m close and I have a lot of families in Benin as well. We’ve always listened to your music and we grew up listening to your music.
“And what I love about what you do is that a lot of people disconnect from what is currently going on in the world.
“You have always been available for us, I mean my colleagues and you have worked with Stonebwoy and people in other countries like South Africa and Kenya.
“For you to always bless me and always answer every time I call, I love that and I appreciate you. Even before the record, you and I have always spoken about how the world needs healing,” Davido said.
