Nigerian singer Tems won the Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award at the 2024 BET Awards.
Tems beat other nominees such as Shirley Caesar, Kirk Franklin, Halle Bailey, CeCe Winans, Erica Campbell, Maverick City Music, Naomi Raine & Chandler Moore, and Kirk Franklin to win the award with her hit song “Me & U.”
The Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award at the BET Awards recognizes outstanding urban contemporary gospel artists.
The winner is selected based on sales and the overall excellence of their work during the qualifying period.

Originally named Best Gospel Artist, the award was rebranded to its current title in 2017.
On the flip side, Tems’ colleague Aryra Star unfortunately lost the New Artiste of the Year award to Tyla.
The South African beat the likes of 41, 4Batz, Bossman Dlow, Fridayy, October London and Sexyy Red to win the award.
