Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer Tekno has dropped his latest single, ‘Wayo,’ much to the delight of his fans and the music industry.
The track, which was released on May 24, 2024, showcases Tekno’s signature sound and his ability to create infectious, danceable tunes that captivate audiences worldwide.
‘Wayo’ samples rhythms from the late Prince Nico Mbarga’s song, ‘Sweet Mother.’
‘Wayo,’ which translates to “trickery” in Nigerian pidgin English, is a high-energy Afrobeats track that blends elements of pop, R&B, Afrobeats, and Highlife.
The release of ‘Wayo’ comes on the heels of Tekno joining emPawa Africa, the label services company founded by Mr Eazi, as an investor and partner. The deal is a joint venture between Tekno’s independent imprint, Cartel Music, and emPawa.
