A serious incident occurred in Tarkwa when Black Sherif abruptly halted his performance and exited the stage due to an electrocution event involving two fans during his show at the University of Mines and Technology (UMAT).
The 1st and 2nd Sermon rhymer was greeted by a large audience as he prepared to deliver a series of hit songs from his remarkable repertoire.
However, the atmosphere quickly shifted when he witnessed the electrocution of two fans.
Reports indicate that the atmosphere was festive during the musician’s performance until chaos ensued when two fans—a young man and a woman—were electrocuted, with the female fan’s condition being described as especially critical.
In a widely circulated video, Black Sherif was observed making his way to his vehicle following the incident, despite pleas from both the organizers and fans for him to continue his performance.
Reports indicate that he ultimately agreed to return after an extensive six-hour negotiation.
UMaT was first established as the Tarkwa Technical Institute in 1952. In 1961, the university was changed to the Tarkwa School of Mines to help train manpower for the mining industry in Ghana.
