Gospel musician and evangelist Cecilia Marfo has called on pastors to abandon judgmental approaches when addressing sinners and instead focus on preaching the love of Jesus Christ.
Speaking passionately during an interview on Kingdom FM, she expressed her concern over the tendency of some religious leaders to harshly criticize individuals for their sins or personal choices, such as their clothing or lifestyle.
“Any pastor who condemns adultery, fornication, or the clothing choices of worldly individuals is misguided,” Marfo declared during the interview. “We must not confront sinners about their sins but instead gently encourage them to turn to Jesus.”
Marfo, who has long been a prominent figure in Ghana’s gospel music scene, shared her own approach to ministry.

She revealed that her style of preaching avoids condemnation, focusing instead on uplifting messages that highlight God’s love and forgiveness.
“If you observe me preaching, you will be moved to tears,” she said with emotion. “I will make you realize that no matter how significant your sins may be, Jesus came for you.”
The evangelist’s remarks come amidst ongoing debates within Christian communities over the best ways to minister to individuals who may not adhere to traditional Christian values.
Many churches grapple with balancing the message of grace with the need to address moral conduct. However, Marfo insists that judgmental rhetoric alienates rather than converts.
“We are called to bring people closer to Christ, not push them away,” she continued. “The gospel is about hope and transformation, not fear and condemnation. When pastors criticize others, they forget the essence of Christ’s mission—to save, not to condemn.”
