Controversial Nigerian rapper Speed Darlington has been rearrested by Nigerian police during a performance in Owerri, Imo State.
The arrest follows a series of incidents that have kept the rapper in the public eye, particularly his contentious comments about Afrobeat giant Burna Boy.

Speed Darlington had initially been detained due to remarks he made about Burna Boy, which caused quite a stir on social media. His comments led to a clash with Burna Boy’s fans, and he was subsequently arrested.
However, after his release, Darlington left Nigeria and moved back to the United States, where he made further statements, including retracting his apology to Burna Boy that he had previously issued.
In a statement, his lawyer, Adeyanju Deji, confirmed the rapper’s rearrest: “BREAKING: Our client Speed Darlington a.k.a AKPI has been arrested by the Nigerian police in Owerri at his show upon return to Nigeria.”
Sources close to the rapper indicated that the arrest occurred while he was performing in the city, and police reportedly took him into custody shortly after his show began.
His fans and critics have been left speculating about the reasons behind the rearrest, with some pointing to his controversial nature and ongoing public spats as a possible cause.
