Jidenna has expressed remorse for his past behaviour towards women and sought their forgiveness during a recent podcast.
He acknowledged that he had deprived some of them of their ability to have children, which he deeply regrets. The discussion took place on the debut episode of the What’s Underneath Masculinity podcast, which was released on November 9th.
“I robbed some women of their baby-making years, dragging them along. They built me up,” he began. “Look at me now! And look at them! If you were creative, I folded you into my artwork. If you were in my artwork, I would give you a job. I gave you a job, I mastered your life. I gave you a house, and food. Everything you needed, I protected and provided for you. I did what men are ‘supposed’ to do.”
He continued: “I remember different quotes I said. Just really manipulative things like, ‘No one is gonna love you the way I do.’ Oh my god! I’m ashamed of it! and that’s what makes me angry when I see my brothers do that. We can’t do that to the women who have done so much for us to even exist. And I saw myself for the first time — all the things I’m saying now? Woo, horror.
“Bit by bit I stripped myself of my former self and I swore that the next relationship that I would get in, I would work as hard at love as I have worked in my career,” he concluded.
Who is Jidenna?
Jidenna is an American rapper and singer. His real name is Jidenna Theodore Mobisson. Jidenna, in 2015, unveiled two singles, namely “Classic Man” featuring Roman GianArthur and Kendrick Lamar, and “Yoga” with Janelle Monáe. These singles served as a promotion for Monáe’s label, Wondaland Records’ compilation EP, The Eephus (2015), in collaboration with Epic Records. Following this, Jidenna released his debut album, The Chief, on February 17, 2017, which reached a peak position of number 38 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Jidenna is a musician who is signed to Wondaland Records, which is owned by Janelle Monáe. His music is distributed through Epic Records. He has worked with several other artists who are also signed to Wondaland Records, such as Roman GianArthur, St. Beauty, Deep Cotton, and Janelle Monáe herself. Jidenna’s first official single, “Classic Man,” was released in February 2015 and featured GianArthur. The song was very popular in the United States and debuted at number 49 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. Jidenna also recorded a five-song compilation of Wondaland Records’ first extended play (EP), titled The Eephus.
