Nigerian singer and songwriter Crayon has crowned his colleague, Ayra Starr, as the prettiest girl in the country.
On September 23, Crayon’s Twitter account praised Ayra Starr’s beauty in response to a challenge issued by reality TV personality Tacha.
Tacha inquired on social media who the most attractive female in Nigeria is, and she invited users to provide visual evidence to support their claims. In response, Crayon posted a steamy picture of Ayra and referred to her as Ngozi, the name of one of his popular songs.
Ayra Starr is a talented Nigerian singer who was born in Benin. At the age of 16, she began her career in the fashion industry with Quove Model Management. However, she soon realized her true passion lay in music. After covering popular songs by various artists on Instagram, she posted her first original song on the platform in December 2019.
This caught the attention of renowned record executive Don Jazzy, who signed her to his record label, Mavin Records. In early 2021, Starr’s eponymous debut extended play and its hit track “Away” gained widespread recognition, spending two consecutive weeks at number four on Nigeria’s TurnTable Top 50 chart. The song also peaked at number 17 on the Billboard Top Triller Global chart, paving the way for the release of her first full-length mixtape, 19 & Dangerous (2021).
The mixtape, which falls under the Afropop and R&B genres, received positive critical acclaim and produced two top forty hits in Nigeria. The lead single “Bloody Samaritan” reached the number-one position on the Top 50 chart, making Starr the first female artist to achieve this feat with a solo song.
She also debuted on Pandora Predictions chart and was ranked number three on Billboard’s Next Big Sound on 28 August 2021. In 2022, Starr gained international recognition with the release of her song “Rush”. The song charted in several countries, including Switzerland, Ireland, and the United Kingdom, where it peaked at Number 24.
