Singer Cat Janice Dies Following Cancer Battle

American singer Janice, from the D.C. area, tragically passed away on Wednesday, as confirmed by her family.

Despite battling a relentless form of cancer, she managed to release a viral song titled Dance You Outta My Head which was dedicated to her son. Recognizing the significance of this song, Janice selflessly directed its proceeds towards her 7-year-old child.

The track gained immense popularity worldwide, with countless TikTok posts and even securing a spot on a Billboard chart earlier this month.

Janice’s battle with sarcoma, an uncommon and aggressive cancer, led her to receive hospice care in her childhood home in Annandale, Va. She peacefully departed on Wednesday morning, surrounded by her loved ones.

“She was able to pass in peace knowing that the song, and her music as a whole, would continue to provide for her son,” said Will Ipsan, Janice’s brother.

Janice had taken her cancer battle head on as revealed by Ipsan, resolving to fight as long as she could and hold her loved ones close as she faced her final days.

“It just really is a testament to her fearlessness,” Ipsan said.

Reflecting on her uncertain future, Janice shared with The Washington Post earlier this year that she wasn’t certain if she would still be alive when the song was finally released.

“I just kind of did it, and now here we are,” Janice said. “And honestly, it’s a miracle.”

Janice’s song’s success had briefly served as a poignant reminder of the experiences she would never be able to enjoy with her music: embarking on a tour, releasing numerous albums, and winning prestigious music awards. However, as her life drew to a close, Ipsan noted that these aspirations appeared significantly diminished.

“That was the realization she came to,” Ipsan said. “And something way more special than any of that fun stuff is just knowing that her music had a much greater impact on being able to provide for her son while she’s gone, but also that her story and the song left this level of positivity and inspiration for so many people.”
