Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, the resilient Ghanaian woman who recently made headlines with her Guinness World Record attempt for the longest singing marathon, has disclosed a startling incident that unfolded just days before her historic endeavour.
In an interview on Ghone, Afua revealed that just before she was scheduled to begin the singathon, her house was attacked by robbers, but strangely enough, they didn’t take anything valuable.
“Monday before the actual singathon, we were attacked in the night by robbers in our house; they couldn’t get in. Then, I think, the Wednesday before I started on Sunday too, when we got home, they had broken into our home, but we don’t know how they got in; they just scattered all our things.”
Afua went on to explain the bizarre details of the break-in, “They didn’t take money or anything; all they took was my husband’s deodorant and spray. There were laptops and money, but they didn’t take anything. They just came to mess the place up… So we had to leave home and go log in to a hotel.”
Despite the unnerving incident, Afua Asantewaa pressed on with her Singathon for the Guinness Book of Records, displaying resilience and determination in the face of an unusual and perplexing burglary. The mysterious nature of the robbery added an unexpected twist to Afua’s journey, making her Guinness record attempt all the more memorable.
