Vida Adutwumwaa, a regular pundit on United Showbiz is not amused with Chef Smith’s behaviour despite publicly apologising to the people of Ghana on live TV after being involved in the Guinness World Record (GWR) scam.
Despite Chef Smith’s remorse, Vida Adutwumwaa pointed out that he has not faced severe consequences for his actions, which could potentially encourage others to follow suit.
She emphasized the importance of holding Chef Smith accountable to prevent others from engaging in fraudulent activities.
On July 2, 2024, Chef Smith made headlines by hosting a press conference where he proudly declared that he had achieved the title of the longest individual cooking marathon per Guinness World Records (GWR) guidelines.
During the event, he displayed a plaque that he asserted was sent by the record scheme’s organizers, providing evidence to support his assertion.
Nevertheless, there were doubts raised about the authenticity of his claim due to the absence of any official announcement on the GWR website.
Many Ghanaians contended that since GWR had not officially recognized this accomplishment on their platform, Chef Smith’s assertion may be unfounded.
Amidst the uproar caused by this claim, TV3 Ghana, a subsidiary of Media General, reached out to GWR to verify Chef Smith’s statement.
In a message sent directly to TV3 through X, GWR confirmed that the current record holder for the longest individual cooking session is still Alan Fisher from Ireland.
GWR clarified that Chef Smith does not possess the title of the longest cooking marathon and has not been granted any official certificate.
