Shirley Frimpong Manso has been captured in a viral video confronting the actors from Ghana and Nigeria she had gathered for her upcoming movie Two of A Kind.
The acclaimed filmmaker was observed criticizing the performers cast in the film, emphasizing that no actor should be too proud to rehearse their lines repeatedly to deliver their best performance.
According to her, continuous practice is key to achieving excellence, regardless of one’s experience in the film industry.
“You want to be great? You’ve got to practice; it is not funny. You think you can wing it? It shows when you have practised and rehearsed and you act it shows and when you don’t know foko it show, I’m telling you today,” Shirley said.
Her statement has sparked a flurry of conversations around the entertainment news landscape in Ghana and beyond.
Actress Lydia Forson seconded her views while reacting to the video shared by singer and actress Adomaa, stating that Shirley is dedicated to bringing out the best in her actors and is always seeking ways to facilitate that process.
“If you want to work with Shirley you have to bring your A game, and that goes for everyone. There are no stars on set, just actors! And if you mess up, you will hear it! 🤣 But when all is said and done, she’s also the sweetest, most caring director you will ever meet. Lol.”
It would be recalled that Nigerian actress Rita Dominic recently landed in Ghana to feature in the movie, months after she participated in the Women of Valour empowerment project led by Nana Aba Anamoah.
During a press launch in Accra on Saturday, July 7, Rita Dominic expressed her excitement to be part of Shirley’s new project.
The Nollywood veteran emphasized her connection to the script, highlighting the vibrancy of the theme and its potential resonance with audiences across Africa.
