The tables have turned on Rev. Charlotte Oduro, a well-known relationship counselor who once urged women to endure hardships in marriage. Her recent divorce has sparked backlash, with many questioning the credibility of her past advice.
Kumawood actress Christiana Awuni is among those criticizing Oduro, calling out her long-standing stance on marriage and women’s roles in relationships. In an interview with Max TV, Awuni expressed disappointment in Oduro’s approach, highlighting the irony of her situation.
“So, at that time, she was asking women to condone the bad habits of men and advising them to endure in their relationships, she has been divorced? In life, nobody knows what will happen tomorrow. No one knows what will happen in the next minute or hour. So, when others are going through pain, you should be careful about what you say,” Awuni stated.

Oduro gained prominence for encouraging women to respect their husbands unconditionally, often advising them to stay in difficult marriages rather than leave.
However, her own marriage ending has led to widespread criticism, with many arguing that her advice lacked balance and unfairly placed the burden of sustaining relationships on women.
“Maybe she thought she was offering advice, but that’s not how it works. You can’t just advise couples when you’re not in their marriage. She was always attacking women, not men. You can’t keep forcing women to endure marriages, respect their husbands, and so on. If you had respected your husband, would he have divorced you?” Awuni questioned.
When asked whether Rev. Oduro should apologize to the women who felt hurt or misled by her advice, Awuni was emphatic. “If she is not ashamed, she should come and apologise to us and say that she’s sorry,” she said.
