A Ghanaian clergyman, Prophet J.Y Adu, has weighed in on the controversy surrounding Yaw Sarpong and his wife’s marital issues, which were recently brought to light on the popular Auntie Naa show on Oyerepa FM.
Maame Penamang, the estranged wife of the veteran gospel musician Yaw Sarpong, revealed numerous details about their marriage on the show.
This revelation sparked criticism from the public, especially since the artist has been battling illness for an extended period and was unable to speak up in response.
During his sermon on Sunday, Prophet JY Adu, responsible for Yaw Sarpong at a prayer camp, criticized the woman’s grievances.
He claimed she neglected Yaw Sarpong, particularly when he was sick, assuming he would die.
Additionally, he rebuked Maame Penamang for suggesting that Yaw Sarpong should leave the prayer camp for physiotherapy and other treatments, deeming it an affront to his abilities as he can cure illnesses beyond medical doctors’ capabilities.
“I don’t joke with my integrity. I am a Doctor. I have healed people even Doctors could not heal. When I was told that Yaw Sarpong was taken to the hospital in Accra, I asked that they bring my son to me.
“He had been in the hospital for a week and the Doctors could not tell what his problem was but I knew what his problem was so I asked that they bring him to me. He could not speak nor move at the time.
“When he was sick for the first time and got healed we had to go to a cemetery in his hometown to change things where was the supposed wife?
“When we were fasting and praying where was the supposed wife who now claims he is her husband? She left because Yaw Sarpong got sick and did not look promising. She thought he would die.”
He continued “So why won’t I like Tiwaa. Tiwaa has been with Yaw Sarpong throughout his life and all the challenges he has faced.
Tiwaa takes care of him and is always with him. She fasts and prays and does any other thing for the man as a daughter she is. Where was the wife when he had to be taken care of?”
Maame Penamang got pumped life into entertainment news in Ghana after she appeared on the aforementioned show to accuse Yaw Sarpong of infidelity over the years.
She also reveals that she has been denied access to her husband since he fell ill and was taken to an undisclosed prayer camp.
Narrating her grievances on line radio which was also transmitted live on Oyerepa TV, she said despite offering to accompany her husband to the prayer camp, she was persuaded to stay home.
Later, she discovered that a lady named Tiwaa, who is part of the musician’s band, had been caring for her husband.
She expressed her distress over how her in-laws have mistreated her and falsely implied that she was divorced, even though her husband never mentioned ending their marriage.
During the show, she mentioned that when she learned that the Vice-President had donated GHC 100,000 to her husband, she suggested using the money to complete their house.
