Lilwin has publicly expressed his regret and issued a heartfelt apology to Martha Ankomah during a phone interview on United Showbiz on UTV on Saturday, 3 August 2024.
The A Country Called Ghana producer and actor referred to Martha Ankomah as his sister and asked for forgiveness for the derogatory comments he made about her after she declined a role in his A Country Ghana movie.
Additionally, he requested the top management of Despite Media Group to also seek forgiveness from Martha Ankomah on his behalf.
“I apologize for what I did. Martha Ankomah is not only a sister, but she is a colleague too. I accept my fault and render an unqualified apology to her. I want to use this medium and call on all of you present in the studio, Fada Dickson, Despite among others, to apologize to her for me,” he said.
Lilwin also criticized Ghanaian bloggers for their involvement in the controversy, alleging that they frequently misinterpret his statements and contribute to misunderstandings.
“Ghanaian bloggers are fond of putting together pieces of your statements to mean something else. I cannot pass defamatory remarks about anyone on social media. I was talking about three things. I used my sister (Martha Ankomah) as an example, and then moved to those on YouTube and TikTok,” he bemoaned.
His plea comes on the heels of their court case which was recently struck out for the issue to be settled at home and thereby starting a new conversation around the entertainment news landscape.
The presiding judge, Justice Forson Agyapong Baah, has acknowledged this development and rescheduled the case for August 15, 2024, to formalize the settlement.
The leader of her legal team, Nii Apatu Plange has stated, “There has been some development.”
“We were supposed to start the trial today, (Wednesday, July 31). Unfortunately, some development has come up, and I pray that my client and I approach the bench,” Counsel submitted.
